Front Desk/Visitor Process

All visitors are required to check in at the Goodwin Front Desk upon arrival to campus unless alternative arrangements have been approved in advance with Campus Safety.

If employees are expecting visitors, please utilize google calendar to alert the front desk in advance of the visit. All employees can add “Morganton Front Desk Events/Visitors” as a guest to their calendar event. This will also give the Administrative Associate the opportunity to review the request in advance and be prepared to greet visitors upon their arrival to campus and direct to them to the correct contact.

Checking in at the Front Desk (Verkada)

All visitors to NCSSM-Morganton must sign in on the iPad at the front desk with the Verkada system. The Verkada system will ask for the following information from each guest:

Once all information is submitted and approved, a visitor pass will print for the guest to wear while on campus and the employee/student will receive an email notifying them of their visitor’s arrival in Goodwin Lobby. Once you receive the notification email, please come to the Goodwin Front Lobby to meet your guest.

If you are an employee visiting from Durham, please check in at the front desk of Goodwin Hall by providing your employee ID.

Morganton Staff Calendar

We ask that all Morganton employees, faculty and staff, utilize this shared NCSSM calendar to record any time out of the office or extended periods of remote work. This assists our administrative teams with scheduling and allows for clearer communication across the institution. Durham employees can also utilize this calendar to indicate when they will be visiting or working from Morganton’s campus.

  • Access the Staff Google Calendar HERE.

  • Create an Event for Time Off/Out of Office:

    1. Open the Staff Google Calendar and click on the desired date.

    2. Select "Out of office" from the event options.

    3. Set the start and end time/date.

    4. Customize the title (e.g., "John Doe - Vacation" or "Jane Smith - Out of Office").

    5. Add any necessary details in the description (e.g., contact person during absence).

  • Set the Visibility and Notifications:

    1. Set the event as public.

    2. Set notifications or reminders if needed.

Class Scheduling

Once class schedules are confirmed by the Registrar’s Office, the front desk Administrative Associate loads all courses into respective google calendars for rooms across campus. If you have questions about changing rooms, or updating information on a room calendar invite, please reach out to Jill Masten-Byers directly and cc Sasha Freeman.

Office Supplies / Break Room Restock

Every Friday, break rooms, faculty hubs, and copiers are replenished across campus. Toner levels are also checked in each copier at least once per month. If you have a request for office supplies on campus, or notice a certain set of supplies running low, please notify Sasha Freeman by using the form below.

Van Reservations

To request a vehicle to travel on or off campus, Campus Safety requires the following information:

  • All items in the key bag must be returned to the front desk or safety hub

  • The log sheet in the bag must be filled out, including beginning and ending mileage from the trip

  • Vans must be returned cleaned with all items and trash removed from the vehicle

  • If the gas tank is less than half full at the time of return, please fill it back up to the full line. If needed, gas cards are located in the key bags for specific ones.

    • Please note that Campus Safety team does not fill up the gas tank, that is the responsibility of the person(s) driving the van(s). Also, if you notice something needs addressing when you are driving, please alert security when you return the keys. IE: tire pressure low, windshield wiper is broken or any dashboard lights are on.

Printer Protocol / Notifications if a Printer Goes Down
