Required MFA setup for BEACON

First of all, we would like to thank those of you who have reset your NCID passwords, thereby unlocking your accounts and enabling you to sign into BEACON. Our latest information (as of 5 PM yesterday) is that over half have been able to reset their NCID passwords. We hope that those of you who have not yet completed your elections for Open Enrollment have been able to do so now, or that you have used the alternative method of calling in to complete this process (shared by Jamie Hawthorne in an email sent October 18). For ease of reference, the phone number is 855-859-0966, which you can call M-F from 8 AM to 10 PM and weekends from 8 AM to 5 PM.

 

For those of you who have not yet reset your NCID password, please visit https://ncidsspr.nc.gov/sspr/public/forgottenpassword as soon as you’re able, and please allow what might be a significant amount of time (i.e., overnight) for your account status to sync to BEACON to allow you to log in there.

 

We are also working to deal with people’s accounts that have become locked.

We’re reaching out to ask those of you who have regained access to BEACON, following the completion of your Open Enrollment elections, that you please use the following instructions to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your BEACON login as soon as possible. This is a requirement coming from the NC Office of the State Controller (OSC) in order to further secure logins to BEACON.

 

We ask that you please do so at your earliest convenience, else, once the required date is reached in the coming weeks, you will be forced to set up MFA for BEACON login before you will be allowed to access BEACON. Setting this up in advance will mean ITS will have the capacity to assist and make sure you access BEACON and meet the OSC requirement prior to that date.
