Morganton Move-In Information

Last updated Nov. 1, 2021

Instructions

As we move into Goodwin Hall, ITS would like to provide some guidance on network connectivity, setting up hardware in your office, how to get assistance with support, and printing and copying.

First, of course, is the network! Here is the information you will need to connect to the Wi-Fi network in Goodwin Hall:

  • Wi-F network name: NCSSM Morganton

  • Password: shared via email

Please note that the information will be changing in the coming months once the eduroam network, like the network on the Durham campus, is created. When we reach that point, ITS will let you all know and work with you on the change. In the meantime, please do not share this password outside of NCSSM without first notifying ITS.

If you experience issues getting connected, we will have in-person and remote support available. Send us a ticket at http://ithelp.ncssm.edu or by emailing ithelp@ncssm.edu and we will have on-site support available from @Nathan Harmer , as well as the ability to walk through the configuration remotely by our staff in Durham.

Second, there may be quite a bit of new computer hardware, including monitors, docking stations, keyboards, mice, etc., that you will begin to use after you move in. Should you need assistance connecting these peripherals to your school-issued laptop, please let ITS know using the ticket creation instructions above. Also, should you notice that you need a network port activated, ITS will be preemptively checking in with everyone in the coming week, however, in the short term, you may also submit a ticket and we will activate one for you as soon as possible.

Lastly, starting soon, our copier and printer partner, Systel, will be installing a copier and a number of printers in Goodwin Hall. Once installation is completed, ITS will reach out to each of you to get the copier and the appropriate printers set up for access from your laptop. In the interim, if you need to print, ITS will be reaching out separately with temporary instructions for directly printing to the Canon network printer moved from WPCC.

Thank you, and if you have any follow-up questions or concerns about any of this, please don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know via a ticket.
