Eclipse: Clone a GitHub Repository

Prerequisites

  • Eclipse is installed on your computer

Instructions

  1. Launch Eclipse.

  2. Select a folder of your choice to serve as the workspace.

  3. Select Window > Perspective > Open Perspective > Java

  4. If the Git Repositories tab is not shown, select Window > Show View > Other… then select Git > Git Repositories and click the “Open” button.

  5. Click “Clone a Git repository”.

  6. Without closing Eclipse, open an internet browser.

  7. Navigate to https://github.ncssm.edu/

  8. Access the desired repository.

  9. Click “Clone or download”.

  10. Copy the URL from the dropdown box.

  11. Paste the URL into the URI box in Eclipse menu for cloning a Git repository. This should automatically populate the Host and Repository path boxes.

  12. When prompted, enter your username and password for your NCSSM GitHub account.

  13. Ensure that the desired branches are selected, and click “Next”.

  14. Click “Finish”.
