Add printer on computer in domain - Windows

Staff, Faculty, and those NCSSM-owned and managed laptops in the NCSSM domain (meaning you log in with your NCSSM credentials) should use the following instructions to connect to network printers at NCSSM.

Note: To connect to either a Konica Minolta or Toshiba copier on a Mac, please use these instructions instead:

Instructions for network printer setup

  2. Under "Hardware and Sound", select View devices and printers. If you are viewing the Control Panel by "Large icons" or "Small icons", click on Devices and Printers.

  3. Click Add a printer.

  4. Note: If you get prompted with "What type of printer do you want to install?", select Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.

  5. Click The printer that I want isn't listed.

  6. Click on the radio button next to Select a shared printer by name, and click inside the text field.

  7. In the text field, enter: \\printing\

  8. Once you type this, a full list of all network printers should automatically populate.

  9. Locate your printer in this list and click the printer.

  10. Click Next.

  11. Your PC will proceed to identify the printer and locate, download, and install the appropriate driver. Please note that this may take a few minutes to complete.

  12. You will see a message that says "You've successfully added" the printer.

  13. Click Next.

  14. (Optional) You can click Print a test page to make sure the printer is working properly. Note that this will only work on non-copier network printers, due to the code requirement for copiers.
