Fixed DNS Address - macOS

If you are connected to the NCSSM Eduroam network on a computer running macOS and are not able to establish and Internet connection, please follow the following instructions:

Change DNS Settings

Note: If the lock in the lower-left corner of the System Preferences window is closed, you must click it and enter your macOS administrator password before you can make changes to settings.

  1. Open System Preferences and click on the Network icon

  2. In the left-hand menu, select the "Eduroam" Wi-Fi connection

  3. Click on the Advanced ... button and open the DNS tab

  4. If there are any black entries in the DNS Servers pane, use the "-" button to remove them

  5. Click OK to close out of the Advanced ... setting windows, a connection should be properly established

  6. To check if the settings have been applied, re-open the DNS tab in the Advanced ... settings window

  7. The DNS Server Addresses should be in a grey font, denoting that they are being obtained automatically
