Accessing the Quality Matters Rubric

A teacher may want to look at the Quality Matters (QM) rubric even if not reviewing a course because it offers clear, research-based guidelines for effective teaching. Reviewing the rubric can help improve course materials, enhance student engagement, and ensure best practices are followed. The rubric contains best-practices and standards that can improve any course.

Instructions

  1. Log in at www.qmprogram.org/myqm/

  2. Locate the rubric:

    1. Click on the CRMS button. (Course Review Management System)

    2. Be sure to click the K-12 tab at the top of the page (otherwise you will receive the Higher Ed version of the rubric).

    3. We recommend you do one of two things:

      1. Start a Self-review if you wish to use the rubric to review your own course. This can be especially useful if you wish to take notes about your course as you look over the standards.

      2. View the reference copy of the Sample Reviewer Worksheet. This will allow you to simply look at the rubric standards and their annotations. There is a lot of helpful information in the annotations so be sure to read over them.
