Add a Google Drive file to a Canvas Module

This article explains how teachers can add files directly from Google Drive to a module in Canvas.

Instructions

  1. Choose to add new content to a module in Canvas by using the plus button.

  2. Use the pull-down menu to select External Tool

  3. Choose Google Drive (LTI 1.3) in the list

  4. Select your file (make sure you are logged into the correct Google Account. If not, choose to “switch accounts.”)

  5. Select your file and choose Add it to the module.

  6. Choose to Add Item

This then adds the item to the module in Canvas so students can access the file easily.
